We love hearing about how you’ve been inspired by an XYBOOM experience any ideas or initiatives that have come about as a result. Here are a few examples of the XYBOOM ripple effect:
- Jane Terepocki, HR Administrator, Recruitment & Training at MEC and XYBOM 2013 panelist, wrote an article on XYBOOM featured in Fall 2013 issue of BCHRMA’s magazine People Talk. The article features 8 key generational issues and opportunities. Check it out here.
- Christina Wu, Manager, Communications at the BC Council for International Education added an intergenerational perspective to an existing mentorship program and had David Reeve, a panelist from the 2013 conference share his unique philosophy on mentorship in a workshop for mentors and mentees.
The BC Council for International Education’s Mentorship Program was already in place before I attended XYBOOM, however attending the conference only reinforced the need for cross-generational and cross-functional collaboration. It also provided us suggestions for speakers to continue these conversations. We are pleased to invite David Reeve who spoke at XYBOOM to speak as part of our Mentorship Program.
- Stephanie Papik, Aboriginal Youth Internship Program Lead, BC Public Service Agency and XYBOOM Live Case Study contributor, spoke about the need to incorporate intergenerational issues into provincial policy at a Community of Practice on Policy planning meeting. XYBOOM will be presenting to this provincial government group in February 2014.
